Art Project - My Moth

Art Project or Drawing Inspiration - My Moth to design your own moth pattern

My Moth is my kind of moth. I love to create my own patterns and colour combinations inspired by real objects, animals, or plant life. There are no rules in art. This one is fairly simple or you could be inspired to create a more complicated piece of art - the options are endless.

I always encourage a sketchbook practice to start, which can include a page of mark making practice, a page of interesting moth shapes, and even colour combinations you might want to try. For references, check out my Pinterest page.

Once you’re done practicing, refer to your practice pages for colour combinations that bring you joy or details that you wanted to try on your final my moth artwork.

How I work:

Start painting the main elements or shapes of the moth in watercolour.

Once the watercolours have dried, add some shading before adding texture markings. You can do this with more watercolour paint or by using another tool, such as coloured pencils.

Add your markings and wing details using your favourite tools and colours.

Add the legs and antennas last with a sharp coloured pencil of your choice.
