How To Use Watercolours - Metal Surface
I don’t often paint metal surfaces, but when I do, it’s all about the highlights and shadows. Grab a scrap piece of watercolour paper or two and give this a try.
• Start light and layer darker and darker shades. Don’t be afraid to go real dark at the end.
• You can either leave a bit of white paper for the highlighted areas or add white at the end with different tools. I used a white neocolor ii wax pastel to create highlights.
• Try different shapes and methods to try and achieve a metal surface.
• Adding the screw markings and metal connection lines at the end makes the metal look more robotic. I used a dark grey colour pencil.
• Practice, practice, practice!
