Drawing Prompt - Winter Lodge
This photo reminds me of Island Lake Lodge, a really cool resort just west of Fernie, BC. Since I want to practice evening landscapes, I thought this would be just the right place to start. The contrast of warm light and cool colours will make the cabin really stand out.
The goal:
Make the lodge the star of the evening show. You want the viewers eyes to go directly to it. Try to go as dark as you can.
The materials:
I’m going to start with watercolours and layer up from there. I tend to use gouache after watercolours if the watercolours are too transparent. Sometimes I don’t want to see the paper underneath.
